Project I: Geometry & Form: Expressions through Architectural Design Elements & Principles
Introduction
How does an Architect begin their design? It could start off something simple, and turn it into a more complex design.
First, we must understand that a "design" consists of elements and principles which helps to convey the person's design. Elements of the design are visual tools that the artist uses to create a composition. Such as, lines, shape, colour, value, form, texture, and space. As for principles of design, it demonstrates how the architect shows the use of elements of design to create an effect and help to convey the design intent. The principles of design are Radial, Movement, Pattern, Hierarchy, Variety, Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, Spacing, Emphasis, Dominance, Proportion, Clustered, Rhythm, Unity, Similarity.
Project Task & Overview
Project 1 brings us to explore different approaches of generating and translating ideas, design translation and interpretation. Exploring the varied forms of design elements and principles, and ability to create a three- dimensional design and translate to diagrams.
In a group of 7 students, there are 6 parts in this project.
Part 1
We were assigned to sketch 20 tattoo stamps free hand using design elements and design principles.

Part 3
Draw 12 tattoo stamps. Each of the tattoo stamps selected from part 2 must pair with a "composition", draw and compose the geometric shapes into a tattoo stamp to express 2 descriptive words.

Part 4
From the collection of 12 tattoo stamps from part 3, select 1 artwork and extrude directly from the network into 6 different models while keeping the composition and descriptive words through the 3D transformation.

Part 5
From the collection of 3D artwork in Part 4, select one and create 3 types of model: built up to a cube, dissect a cube, skeleton cube.

Part 6
Choose 3 models and refine or improve them that best represent the given descriptive word.
